Value of the Case: How much is my case worth?
For each case, the determination of case value depends on the physical, emotional, and financial injuries suffered by the injured person. The legal term used for this evaluation is entitled “damages.” The two most common types of legal damages are: (1) non-economic (e.g. pain and suffering) and (2) economic (e.g. medical expenses and lost earnings). In some rare cases, punitive damages and other forms of compensation could potentially be recoverable as well.
A detailed discussion of the recoverable damages in personal injury cases – is included on the Personal Injury Damages page of this website. If the accident resulted in a loved one’s death, then recoverable damages are governed by the rules applicable to Wrongful Death cases. All of these complex factors are considered when deciding how much a case is worth.
